Wicked!

I have wanted to see Wicked for a long time. I somehow missed the fact that the Broadway show was coming to Utah this month (the tickets were sold out a year ago). When I heard they were here I became quite obsessed with finding a way to go. However, the tickets were selling for waaaay out of my price range. I checked the online classified ads many times a day. Any reasonably priced tickets would sell within minutes of listing. I just about gave up. Rod told me to go ahead and just get some good tickets but I knew I wouldn't enjoy myself if they were $300-400 a piece. Friday morning my persistence finally paid off. I caught an ad that had been posted for about 9 minutes that was selling 4 really good seats for a lot of money....AND two tickets for a deal. They were technically singles as they were one row apart but in the center, on the aisle, one right in front of the other. I called right away and got them!!!
Rod dropped everything and went downtown to pick them up. He said they were a "big Mother's Day present for the best Mom in the world". Wow. What a nice man I married! Anna and I danced around all afternoon so excited to go. The show was absolutely fantastic! I love the twist on such a well known story. There was so much creativity and talent. I was in heaven...and so was Anna. We have been listening to the music ever since and singing our hearts out...much to the dismay of our poor little boys. It was a wonderful Mother/Daughter experience!

*Owen's 4th Birthday*

Our Owen Grey turned FOUR on April 21st. We had such a great time having a "candy" party for his special night. Grandma and Grandpa Bergeson and Nonna came to help us celebrate. Owen decorated his own cake and there were lots of presents.
Happy Birthday to our special boy! I can hardly believe it has been four years since you "quacked" your way into our family. You are my special buddy. I love your quiet thoughtfulness and the way you observe the world. I love your "million dollar smile." Show me the money, Hollywood! I love the way you help take care of your little brother. This year you have really grown up...much to my dismay! However, I am so happy for all the wonderful things you are doing and learning. I am so proud of you Owen!

Hawaiian Paradise

We just got back from an amazing trip to Hawaii to visit Jill. It was truly paradise. We stayed in a house on the beach in Kailua, Oahu. More to follow on the details but it was so nice to get away with the family and enjoy the sun, ocean and sand.

She cut her hair!

A couple of years ago Anna wanted to cut her hair off. Her Dad told her no (he loves long hair). He said she had to wait until she was eight to decide how she wears her hair. Anna threw a HUGE fit. Rod asked if he was making too big a deal out of it all. I told him he was but that he needed to stick with his decision. He couldn't give in to the fit. Fast forward a few years and my eight year old daughter finally got to cut her hair. Honestly, I think I was more nervous than she was about getting it cut. I was sad to see all her beautiful hair go. My little girl has always had long hair since she grew out of her crazy, baby hair.
The first cut:
Anna wants to donate it to "Locks for Love".
We measured about 13 inches.
Here is the after shot. I think her haircut fits her personality more now. She is so spunky and sassy and this cut is perfect. Anna really loves it too. She was too cute staring at herself in the mirror and flipping her short hair. I think it is adorable!

What makes me happy.

Today I saw the first flower of the season
growing in my front yard: It makes me feel happy and hopeful. To me it represents warmth and change. Boys outside in the yard. Dirt on my hands. Picnics. Spring.

Anna's American Idol Party

Anna had an American Idol party for her birthday this year. We sent out invitations inviting the girls to come dressed as a superstar. Here is our favorite Idol ready for the party:All the "contestants" were given a number. We sprayed glitter in their hair and painted stars and hearts on their faces. They each got to sing in groups to karaoke Hannah Montana and High School Musical. There was some real style and animation put into the songs...especially by Anna. We then had the "judges" (the other girls) give positive comments back to the singers. Grandma and Grandpa Bergeson came to enjoy the party and the show:Anna is a "superstar"! Here she is showing her star power with her cake:Tani was in heaven...surrounded by cute girls and enjoying birthday cake. He was acting so cool.
Anna has some really great friends. We all had a great time!
Happy Birthday Anna!
